Spero Therapeutics has signed a licensing deal with Innovent Biologics for a monoclonal antibody targeting CD40L, called SP001. Spero will pay $35 million upfront and up to $1.05 billion in milestones, plus tiered royalties. Spero gets exclusive rights to develop and commercialize the drug worldwide except for mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, which Innovent retains. Spero is required to file an IND in the U.S. within 12 months and use commercially reasonable efforts to launch in at least one U.S. indication and one of several European or Japanese markets.
